The Sarajevo Canton will create a favorable business environment for investment

The Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Elmedin Konaković, the ministers of Finance, Economy and Transport Jasmin Halebić, Muharem Šabić and Mujo Fišo received  a delegation of businessmen from Austria, headed by an Ambassador of this State in Bosnia and Herzegovina Martin Pammer, who said that his country is ready to invest in the Sarajevo Canton.

"Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina have special historical connections with Austria.  Because of it, we consider you as an integral part of our region, and therefore we want to intensify relations with you not only at the economic but also at the cultural level, because we think and act regionally" , said one of the Austrian entrepreneurs Marian Wakounig.  He also added that they are willing to start up companies in the Sarajevo area and employ people from Austria too.

The Prime Minister Konaković said he believes that is right time to invest, because the Government has clear economic aims, and the Government will support development of small and medium enterprises (in the coming period about two million KM will be allocated for development in the next year).

„There are four sectors in which we currently have growth increased: tourism, education, IT sector and timber - metal industry. We are working intensively on changing legal regulations, because this is the necessary prerequisite for further development, "explained the Prime Minister Konaković.

We are also working on education reform, because we are aware how important it is that children have IT as a compulsory subject from the very beginning of their education, said Konaković.
He also said that he has a plan for Sarajevo to become an educational center where about 20,000 foreign students will study.

Minister Šabić informed the guests about the "Investment Guide for the Sarajevo Canton".  Everyone can find it on the website of the Ministry of the Economy, and it will soon be translated into German language.
He announced that the list of cantonal companies suitable for investment will be published at website of the Ministry of the Economy too.

 "Our intention is to create favorable conditions for investment and thereby significantly reduce the time and procedures for potential investors company registration," said Minister Šabić. He also added that potential investors can realized their projects in the Sarajevo Canton according to the Law on Public - Private Partnerships and Law on Concessions.
