Minister Muharem Šabić and Director László Márk agreed about cooperation on projects financed from EU fund

The Minister of Economy of the Sarajevo Canton Muharem Šabić and the Delegation of the South-Transdanubian Water Management Directorate from Hungary, headed by its Director László Márk, had a two day meeting where they discussed the joint application of projects financed from the European Union funds, and especially spoke about the cross-border cooperation programs in which they may participate together - potential candidate countries as well as the current members of the European Union.

"So far we have implemented 60 projects through European funds with the total amount of about 300 million Euro. With this money we've rebuilt machines for maintenance, dams, buildings and changed the entire IT system. In that process, we have gained tremendous experience”, Mr. László  Márk said to the hosts and explained that the South-Transdanubian Water Management Directorate is a public body financed from the state budget and has 184 state employees.

The institution manages 3,300 km of watercourses in the area of 10,000 km2, in the Somogy County, Baranya County and part of Tolna County, and is responsible for the prevention of damage caused by water, flood protection, water resource management, hydrography and monitoring, as well as for water supply.

On this occasion, it was announced that this year both sides (Ministry of Economy of the Sarajevo Canton and South-Transdanubian Water Management Directorate) will sign a memorandum of understanding in order to confirm the joint cooperation. Minister Šabić invited the guests to participate in the International Business Forum that Ministry will organize in September this year.

After the meeting, the Hungarian delegation visited the Agency for the Sava River Basin, where they exchanged experiences in the field of flood protection with the Agency Director Mr Sead Delić. They had a presentation on our modern information system of water, followed by a visit to the Water Laboratory at Butile.
On the she second day of their visit, the Hungarian delegation met with Mr Senad Hasanspahić, Minister of communal economy and infrastructure. They visited the company “Water and sewage", as well as the recently launched water treatment system device in Butile.
Their two-day tour ended with the visit of Sarajevsko polje where they saw the activities of Regulation of the river Bosnia.
