After obtaining knowledge on occurence of bird flu (avian influenza), Minister of Economy formed the Crisis headquarters for contagious deseases of animals in the area of Canton Sarajevo. The crisis headquarters has been established in accordance with the Rulebook on the composition, authorisation, modus operandi and conduction of measures of crisis headquarters for contagious deseases of animals.
The contagious desease has occured on the locality of Pionirska dolina where two swans have died. All the measures prescribed by law have been carried out by the Veterinary Inspection, Veterinary Faculty in Sarajevo, and cantonal public company “Veterinarska stanica” d.o.o. Sarajevo. The Center Municipality has been listed as an infected zone, and the neighbouring municipalities have been listed as surveillance zones.
At the same time, adequate measures of control will be conducted in all other municipalities of Canton Sarajevo. Crisis Headquarters notifies all the bird owners to intensify the conduction of bio-security measures and to prevent contact between the wild birds and domestic ones.
